Welcome to the The Arthur Edward Gamble Collection page

In February 2024, I was contacted by Liz Gamble who had seen the 1960s Photos Project page, on this website. It turns out that she had a collection of photographs, from her late father, and wished for a similar project where these pictures could be shared with everyone.

On 2024-02-17, I received two boxes of photographs along with some other related documents, that explained the collection. Arthur Edward Gamble worked at BCoT (Basingstoke College of Technology) for 30 years. He was the college photographer and Head of the Building Department.

There are many large photographs, some of which are mounted and annotated. These seem to range from the 1960s to the 1980s and show surveying and bricklaying practices. There are also many photos of the students, showing how they learnt their craft and their social lives. It is my hope to begin scanning the photos in, sometime in the 2nd quarter of 2024. This will begin after I have completed the 1960s Photos Project.
